Baccarat is a classic card-comparison game with simple, fixed rules. In each round two cards are dealt to the Player hand and two to the Banker hand, and the goal is for a hand to reach a total as close to 9 as possible. Different cards hold different values, and those values decide which hand comes out closest to 9.
In Baccarat, cards carry different values: all 10s and face cards count as 0, an Ace counts as 1, and number cards count their face value. Only the last digit of a hand's total matters, so a hand that adds up to 15 counts as 5. The hand closest to 9 wins the round. It is an easy game to follow, and the guide below explains the bets, the card values and the third-card rule in full.
Baccarat is a card-comparison game in which you bet on one of two hands — the Player hand or the Banker hand — or on a Tie between them. You do not play a hand yourself; you simply choose which outcome you think the round will produce. Two cards are dealt to each hand, and the hand whose total is closest to 9 wins. The whole round is decided by fixed rules, which is what makes Baccarat easy to follow even though it has a high-stakes reputation. Unlike a game such as Teen Patti, where you build and bet on your own hand against other players, in Baccarat your only decision is which of the three bets to place before the cards are dealt. After that, the deal and any extra card follow set rules, with no choices to make.
A round of Baccarat follows this flow:
The rules of Baccarat are short and fixed. Each round uses two hands, the Player and the Banker, and exactly two cards are dealt to each at the start. Card values are set: a card from 2 to 9 counts its face value, a 10 or any face card (Jack, Queen, King) counts as 0, and an Ace counts as 1. Suits do not matter. To find a hand's total you add its cards and keep only the last digit, so a total of 15 counts as 5 and a total of 10 counts as 0. The hand closest to 9 wins; if the two hands have the same total, the round is a Tie. A third card may be drawn for one or both hands under fixed drawing rules, but this is decided automatically by the game rather than by any player.
Card values at a glance (only the last digit of a hand's total counts):
| Card | Counts as |
|---|---|
| 2 to 9 | Face value (2–9) |
| 10, J, Q, K | 0 |
| Ace | 1 |
A few features define how Baccarat plays:
If you are new to Baccarat, these habits will help you enjoy it more:
Baccarat is meant to be light entertainment, and it stays fun only when it is kept in proportion. The game is for users aged 18 and above, and its outcomes are based on chance — it is not a way to make money or a source of income. Decide a time and money limit before you start, never stake more than you can comfortably afford to lose, and walk away when you reach your limit whether you are ahead or behind.
